What is a Credit?
Credits are calculated using two factors that roll into one formula:
Token count (Input + Output)
The number of tokens processed varies by how long your prompt and response are. The LLM selected also affects the per-token cost — premium models cost more per token than efficient ones.
Actions taken
Additional operations such as API calls, web scraping, and file uploads each consume a small number of credits on top of token usage.
What shapes chat complexity?
The credit cost of a conversation goes up with any of these factors:
Number of messages exchanged back and forth
Length of each individual message
Complexity of the content being processed
Additional actions within the chat (e.g. file uploads, web lookups)
Which AI model is selected — premium models cost more per interaction
